Vancouver:
Vancouver’s exquisite
location at the edge of the pacific ocean is well known. With the coastal
mountains to the north, several beaches and marinas, Vancouver consistently
ranks in the top 3 most desirable cities to live in for its safety, climate
and diverse cultures.
The Northwest Culinary Academy is centrally located in the City of Vancouver,
situated in the trendy Main Street corridor between 11th and 12th avenue,
and 2 blocks off Broadway (the main east/west artery). A single 10 minute
bus ride will bring you to the downtown core crossing Historic Chinatown,
Gastown and Yaletown before heading for the west end.
The east/west bus route of Broadway will take you to the ‘Skytrain”,
steps away from little Italy or all the way to the several beaches in
Kitsilano and the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Vancouver is a moderately priced city. A 1 bedroom apartment rents
between $600.00 and $1000.00 a month. Shared accommodation between $350.00
and $700.00 a month. A month long transit pass starts at $69.00.
Accommodation:
Through Chef Christophe, the Academy has a 5 year relationship with the
Western Training Group (www.westerntraining.com)
to assist you in finding a home-stay family while in Vancouver.
Home-stay gives the student a "home away from home". They
board with a local family, will be supplied with meals, and be included
in some family activities.
Alternatively, Bell
Accommodation Services takes the stress out of finding local
short-term, furnished, shared or independent housing. Visit their
website for more information: www.bellacc.com.
